Abstract

this study investigated the knowledge, attitude and practice of infection control measures among dental practitioners in the city of Cairo, Egypt, and to determine whether the dental practice under review meets standards of infection control or not. Methods: a pre-structured self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 200 randomly selected dentists working in dental clinics at time of the survey; data was then collected and analyzed statistically. Results: response rate to this study was 100%, 59.5% agree to treat AIDS patients, 88.5% reported to be vaccinated against HBV, only 44% change and serialize handpieces between patients, 37.5% claimed they have anti-retraction valves in their water and air lines systems in their working area, about personal protective equipments (PPE) 94% reported to wear gloves, 91% wear face masks, 39 % wear protective eyewear.66.5% performed hand hygiene regularly before and after treating each patient. 94.5% of studied dentists had special containers for sharp disposal. 81.5% used autoclave
