Abstract

Summary
Ischemic heart disease is the most important leading cause of death and disablity in adult men and women of all racial and ethnic groups. It account for 12 million deaths annually worldwide . It is a significant problem in industrialized countries and is becoming an increasingly significant problem in developing countries (Department of Health, Executive Yuan, ROC (TAIWAN) Health and National Health Insurance , 2008).
The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of rehabilitative health teaching modules on the recovery outcomes of patients with ischemic heart diseases.
Setting
The study was conducted in the cardiac care unit and the cardiac out patient’s clinics of Menofia University and Shebin EL-Kom teaching hospitals.
Subjects:
A purposive sample of 60 adult patients with ischemic heart diseases was selected and assigned alternatively and randomly into two equal groups, 30 patients for each group (study and control).
Tools of the study: Four tools were utilized for data collection.
Tool I: Ischemic heart disease interviewing questionnaire.
Tool II: Ischemic heart disease nutritional assessment questionnaire.
Tool III: Ischemic heart disease physical assessment questionnaire.
Tool IV: Ischemic heart disease exercise’s performance checklist and compliance assessment questionnaire.
The main findings of the present study were
 Most of study group (90%) had good total disease knowledge score after teaching module by three months than 56.7% of control group.

Summary
 About two thirds of study group (63.3%) had good home exercise’s compliance score after teaching module by three months compared to 36.7% after teaching module by two months.
 Most of study group (90%) complied regularly with treatment after teaching module by three months than 60 % of control group.
Conclusion
The recovery outcomes were improved among ischemic heart diseases patients who applied the rehabilitative health teaching modules than those who exposed only to the routine hospital care.
Recommendation
Supervised rehabilitative health teaching program should be carried out for patient’s in the out patient clinics to improve their recovery outcomes.
