Abstract The present study is quasi experimental study aiming to evaluate the effect of designed educational program on improving the quality of life of women after mastectomy. The study sample consisted of two groups of women; study and control group (55) for each in Port Said hospitals, The results revealed that, there was a significant improvement in the women level of knowledge regarding all items in relation to patient’s knowledge toward radiotherapy, chemotherapy, complications and nutrition after program implementation. The study results also revealed that there was a highly significant in all quality of life domains physical, psychological, sexual, spiritual and socio-economic between pre and post program. Based on the results of the study it was recommended that nursing working in oncology units should be trained to be able to help women after mastectomy, and more researches are needed to conducted before mastectomy to overcoming complications and improve women quality of life. |
