Abstract Neuroscience is a branch of science that studies the brain from different points of view: anatomy, physiology, embryology, pharmacology, psychology, psychiatry, biochemistry, neurology and neurosurgery. Cognitive neuroscience studies the brain functions that support mental activities. A distinct area of cognitive domains is language abilities and processes. Language is the symbolic and systematic communication system through which humans share ideas, thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. The brain is composed of the brainstem, cerebellum, diencephalon, and cerebrum. The cerebrum is divided into two cerebral hemispheres. Each cerebral hemisphere has gray matter on its surface (cerebral cortex), white matter deep to the cortex, and large masses of gray matter still deeper. The cerebral cortex is divided into 47 areas based on differences in cellular arrangements, the degree of myelination, and the types of neurotransmitters present. The posterior part of the left inferior frontal gyrus is defined as the anterior language region, the motor language region, or the Broca’s area. The posterior language region, |
