Abstract The ongue of mammals contain four main types of papillae one without taste buds (filiform papillae) and the other three contain taste buds (fungiform, circumvallate and foliate papillae).The foliate papillae are leaf-like papillae sometimes present on the lateral margins of the posterior part of the tongue.They are seen more frequently in mammals other than human beings. |
