This chapter presents the summary of the study in terms of the problem of the study, sample of the study, hypotheses, research instrument and findings. It also includes recommendations and suggestion for further research. 5.1. Summary of the study The revolution of mass media, internet and means of communications has a considerable effect on the pedagogical practices especially those related to language learning. An emphasis has been drawn to oral communication and face-to-face interactions either in real life or via video conference meetings. This has necessitated language coursebooks and courses to highlight oral fluency to meet real world requirements. English has become a language of international communication through all means of communications. Therefore, improving learners’ ability to deliver a connected talk without undue pauses or repetitions becomes one of the major developmental tasks to be mastered. For the majority of secondary school students, Oral communications can be most challenging. The demands for fluent, active and interactive graduates are increasingly stressed in all stages, particularly, in the secondary stage. Teachers, syllabus designers and educators are realizing that future students need to be self-reliant, adaptive, life long learners who can be active employable in work market. These students need to be confident, cooperative and fluent speakers of English language. As a result a task-based model has been adopted to develop the Oral spoken fluency of the first secondary graders. . |
