Abstract The thesis is devoted to the development of new methods for the analysis of certain cardiovascular drugs, namely: eprosartan (EPR), hydrochlorothiazide (HCT), irbesartan (IRB), enalapril maleate (ENM), simvastatin (SIM), ezetimibe (EZT), tadalafil (TAD) and vardenafil (VAR) in pharmaceutical preparations and/or in biological fluids. The thesis is divided into 5 parts:- Part I provides a general introduction about cardiovascular drugs, and their classification. Part II describes three methods for the simultaneous determination of EPR and HCT in their pure form, laboratory prepared mixture and co-formulated tablets. where microemulsion liquid chromatography (MELC), first derivative and ratio first derivative spectrophotometric methods were applied for their simultaneous determination. Part III describes sensitive, specific and rapid MELC method for determination of two different antihypertensive binary mixtures (IRB/HCT) and (ENM/HCT) in their co-formulated tablets. The procedure was extended for in-vitro determination of (IRB/HCT) binary mixture in spiked human plasma. Part IV describes rapid HPLC with microemulsion as eluent the simultaneous determination of two antihyperlipidemic drugs, SIM and EZT in their laboratory prepared mixture and co-formulated tablets. Part V describes simple, fast and sensitive spectrofluorimetric methodology for the determination of two recent phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (PDEI-5) TAD and VAR in their pharmaceutical dosage forms based on measurement of their native fluorescence intensities. |
