Abstract - A series of amphoteric surfactants containing α–hydroxy ester group and an amino acid residue were prepared by the addition of epoxy derivatives ( these surfactant were prepared by epoxidation of alkyl acylate) to different types of amino acids (glycine, alaninine, valine and isoleucine). -The structure of the prepared compounds was confirmed by infrared spectra (IR), proton magnetic resonance(1H_NMR), and elemental analysis. -The surface active agent were evaluated by measuring surface tension, Kraft point, foaming power, critical micelle concentration, emulsion and Ca++ stabilities. - Biodegradability of these compounds was measured -The prepared compounds were investigated as corrosion inhibitors of carbon steel in 0.5M H2SO4 using gravimetric and polarization techniques. -The inhibition efficiencies exerted by these compounds were found to depend on both concentration and molecular structure of the different prepared compounds. |
