Abstract Breast cancer is considered to be a systemic disease ans a high percentage of patients die of metastatic lesions. It has become the most common cancer among women and the second leading cause of death in U.S.A. (abeloff et al.,1995).the treatment of metastatatic breast cancer remains one of the most interesting and challenging areas of research in clinical oncology . Extensive studies have been performed on breast cancer showing that the presence of estrogen and progesterone receptors were correlated with high probability of response to endocrine therapy and more favorable prognosis. Hormonal therapy for recurrent breast cancer offers effective low toxicity palliation in about athird of patients. |
