Abstract

Immunostimulants represent a modern and promising tool in aquaculture, enhancing the resistance of cultured fish to disease and stress This study aimed to prove and study the effect of feeding fish with immunostimulants (Feed additives CA growth and orgazol zinc) on the characters of water quality through determination of the level of (dissolved oxygen , ammonia, nitrites, pH, salinity, organic matter and sulphate) and also on its effects on the concentration of heavy metals in waters that include (lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium, copper and zinc) and also determination of their effects on serum constituents (total lipid, total protein, albumin, globulin, albumin / globulin ratio, total glycerides , cholesterol and lactic dehydrogenase), body weight and body weight gain at different periods in seabream and seabass fish.
In our investigation, a total number of 400 cage-cultured marine fishes of body weight range (50 g to 3 Kg) of four different species were collected; 100 Seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.), 100 of Seabream (Sparus aurata L.), fishes were collected showing clinical signs from private fish farm at Alexandria governorate, Egypt. Fishes were transferred as soon as possible to the laboratory located in the same farm where sampling occurs. The freshly dead fish specimens were subjected to full clinical, postmortem (PM) lesions, parasitic and mycological as well as bacteriological examinations. The average body weight of (50 ± 20 grams) were collected from earthen pond culture from the same area , in large plastic bags containing water enriched by oxygen (2/3) and transported to the laboratory of the department of Poultry and Fish diseases - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine- Alexandria University as soon as possible. The fish were acclimated to the laboratory conditions for two weeks prior to the experiment. Random specimens from fish were taken for bacteriological examination to ensure that fish was non infected. Collection of samples was done on early hours of the day. For bacteriological analysis, water samples were collected in sterile conical flasks from a depth of 0.5m from the surface and sediment samples were aseptically scooped out from the bottom and transferred into sterile polythene bags. For the estimation of the dissolved oxygen content, separate water samples were taken in airtight BOD bottles. All the samples were placed in an ice chest and transported to the laboratory for further analysis and the time between collection and processing was four hours. Our results concluded that: 1) Immunostimulants represent a modern and promising tool in aquaculture, enhancing the resistance of cultured fish to disease and stress. 2 The results indicated that, the effect of CA growth and Orgazol zinc in seabream is higher than that of seabass as it affect DO, ammonia , nitrite, pH , salinity, organic matter and sulphate higher than that of seabass. 3) The orgazol zinc increased the level of lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium, copper and zinc than that of CA treated fish and its effect higher in seabream than that of seabass treated fish. 4)Tthe level of serum protein and albumin decreased progressively from the 1st week to the last week of the experiment and the decreasing level in CA growth higher than that of the orgazol zinc. And the level of total protein in seabass higher than that of the seabream fish. 5) The results indicated that, the level of total lipids decreased progressively from the 1st week to the last week of the experiment and the decreasing level in CA growth higher than that of the orgazol zinc. The level of total lipids in seabream higher than that of the seabass fish.
