Abstract The present comparative study was conducted on three cattle breeds (Holstein Friesian, Brown Swiss and native baladi breeds) to throw light on the genetic differences in relation to some infertility problems as repeat breeder in heifers and ovarian cyst(s)) in cows. In this study a total number of 90 cows (30 from each breed) were studied from different farms and localities in Egypt. These animals were grouped into 3 groups (each 30 cows) as the following: 1- Group I (Control group): it included 30 cows (10 from each breed). These cows were reproductively healthy according to farm records, rectal vaginal and ultrasonographic examinations. 2- Group II (Repeat breeder heifers): it included 30 heifers (10 from each breed). The farm records, rectal, vaginal and ultrasonographic examinations revealed that these heifers were free from any congenital abnormalities or pathological affections. They were inseminated more than 3 times, treated hormonally, given sexual rest but they failed to conceive. 3- Group III (Cows with ovarian cyst(s)): it included 30 cows (10 from each breed). The farm records, rectal and ultrasonographic examinations revealed presence of fluid filled cyst more than 2.5 cm. they were subjected to hormonal treatment according the farm system with no success. |
