The artistic image is basic component of poetry. It is a basic that we couldn’t imagine its absence either in modern or ancient poetry. This study investigates the artistic image in poetry of Hassan Ahmed ElSosy. The study consists of introduction, preface, three chapters and conclusion.
Though the introduction the researcher provides a short theoretical overview of image concept in the modern and past times. The first chapter investigates the sources of image in poetry of Hassan ElSosy (reality, nature, heritage, fiction). The second chapter deals with the structure of the partial image and its dividing into metaphor based on marching (simile, metaphor), closeness (metonymy) or story (narrative metonymy) beside the structure of wholly image (the poem). It deals with the verbal and semantic cohesion and intertextuality and its role in abolishing the separating limits between the text and texts, characters or events that implicated by the poem in the new text.
The third chapter discovers the aesthetic formation of the artistic image in poetry of Hassan Ahmed ElSosy. It explains that poetry couldn’t achieve a music harmony just by the external rhythm (rhythm and prosody), but it could be achieved also by the internal rhythm (good style) in addition to the individual words and its semantics (language).
