Abstract
First report on the discovery of ray fungi
(Actinomycetes) appeared in 1875 by Conn. Fifteen years
later Gasperini (1890) first paid attention to the
ability of Streptomycetes to act antagonistically on some
bacteria and fungi; he regarded the latter as a substrate
upon which the Streptomycete developed.
