Abstract The current study was a cohort study conducted on 100 patients with chronic hepatitis C whom were eligible for the inclusion and exclusion criteria and whom were attending the outpatient clinic of Hepatology and Internal medicine Disease Department at Mansoura University Hospital and Mansoura Health Insurance Hospital during the period between April 2012 and May 2014. Complete biochemical and virological studies were performed in addition to abdominal ultrasonography and liver biopsy in all patients, also serum fibronectin, APRI and AST/ALT ratio were performed. ROC curves were constructed to the significant variables and we found that fibronectin has the highest sensitivity (85.7%), highest specificity (58.5%), in diagnosis of advanced fibrosis than APRI its sensitivity was (77.1%), specificity was (46.2%), than AAR which its sensitivity was (68.6%), its specificity was (45%), than albumin which its sensitivity was (57.1%),its specificity was (4. So, the independent variables related to fibrosis were fibronectin (P <0.001), APRI (<0.001) and AST/ALT ratio (P= 0.003) can be used instead of liver biopsy. |
