Abstract

Anterior segment OCT (Visante) is a time domain system that obtains high-resolution images. The light source is a 1,310-nm super luminescent light-emitting diode with a short wavelength that has a limited penetration depth into the eye. Visante OCT acquires multiple A scans and aligns them to construct 2-dimensional images analogous to an ultrasound B scan.
The Pentacam system uses Scheimpflug imaging for noninvasive anterior segment evaluation. It uses a monochromatic slit light source (blue light-emitting diode at 475 nm) to measure anterior segment topography. Up to 50 slit images with 500 measurement points on the front and the back of the corneal surface are acquired over a 180-degree rotation in 2 s. The internal software creates a 3-dimensional reconstruction of the anterior segment by using the elevation data of these images.
In The present study, we aimed to evaluate effectiveness of AS-OCT and Scheimpflug imaging in measuring anterior chamber angle and depth in cataractous patients before and after phacoemulsification surgery.
The present study included 45 eyes of cataractous patients from both sexes who had phacoemulsification. They were divided according to their axial length into 3 groups; group 1 less than 22mm, group 2 from 22mm to 25mm and group 3 more than 25mm
Preoperative preparation started with full history taking where every candidate was subjected to full ophthalmic examination, UCVA and BCVA measurement, IOP measurement before and after having phacoemulsification surgery. IOL power was measured accurately.
