Abstract

The aim of this study was to measure and compare microleakage of all-ceramic crowns cemented to zirconia implant abutments using three different types of luting agents in vitro study
Materials and Methods: fourty two lithium disilicate (IPS e.max) ceramic crowns were fabricated over each model and cemented using different luting cements (RelyX Unicem, Ketac Cem and Temp-Bond NE). All ceramic crowns were constructed with overhanging margins cirumferentially from which the crowns were pulled up to accomplish the retention test, The retentive force were measured by universal testing machine and used with special jig. Also the microleakage between all crowns and zirconia abutments was measured after immersed in 2% basic red fuchsine dye and sectioned incision-gingivally then were assessed under 40 magnification using binocular stereomicroscope at each margin
Results:Retention: Comparison of load (N) among different groups, mean value(Rely x: 383.44±19.69 N, Ketac-Cem: 130.57±9.37 N, Temp-Bond NE; 74.67±9.57 N). P value ≤0.05” thus considered to be statistically significant. Microleakage: Comparison of microleakage mean values and standard deviation among different groupsaccording score (Rely-x: 1.1±0.43, Ketac-Cem: 1.14±0.69, Temp-Bond NE: 1.71±0.76). P value > 0.05” thus considered to be statistically no significant.
Conclusion:Retention: Specimens of glass ionomer cement demonstrated significantly higher mean retentive strength values than Temporary cement. Resin modified glass ionomer (Rely-x) demonstrated the highest mean retentive strength and was significantly different from Ketac-Cem and Temp-Bond luting cement. The retentive force of restorations cemented with resin modified glass ionomer cement (Rely-x) was not same to that of the glass ionomer cement (Ketac-Cem) and also, was not same for restorations cemented with Temp-bond cement. Microleakage: All materials tested demonstrated different degrees of microleakage. Resin modified glass ionomer (Rely-x) had the best sealing properties. This cement showed the least microleakage. The temporary cements (Temp-Bond NE) showed more microleakage than those (Rely-x and Ketac-Cem)
