Abstract - 1- INTRODUCTION Strawberry is considered as one of the very important non traditional horticultural crops which well established in the last 15 years. Strawberry plantation in Egypt has substantially increased in the last few years. Area planted with strawberry was about 4500 Feeddans in 1994/1995 season which produced about 54000 tons of strawberries. A large scale of commercial propagation by virus free tissue culture plants, has been used widely in strawberry.50 millions of certified frigo strawber:rytransplants have been produced during 1994 and 1995 season locally from the recommended california strawberries varieties. More than one million strawberry plantlets could be produced in vitro from a single meristem tip. However, regeneration methods of strawberry from non-meristematic tissues have not Agricbeen well defined. Plants could be regenerated from rneristematic callus, anther, and immature embryos, but regeneration efficiency has been low and protocols have been laborious. The object of this study was to evaluate the different in vitro propagation methods of strawberry plant i.e., runner tip, immature fruit and leaf tissues in the subsequent micropropagation stages. calli derived from shoot tip and fruit were subjected to obtain several somoclones of strawberry. l., I |
