Abstract The cervical region is the most highly developed area of the vertebral column. This work aimed at studying the morphometry of the cervical vertebrae, the cervical spinal canal and cord. The present work enrolled two categories, the first was to study the morphometry of the dried cervical vertebrae. The second was to measure the cervical spinal cord, canal and vertebral bodies using selected metrizamide computed tomographic ”CT” and magnetic resonance ”MR” films. In the first category; direct measurements of some diameters of the spinal canal. vertebral bodies and the vertebrae as a whole were clone on 70 dried vertebrae of la skeletons and were divided into 3 groups:1- The 1st group included la atlas vertebrae. They were subjected to 4 special diameters as follows:a) The midsagittal diameter (MSD)of the bony spinal canal which was subdivided into:. Cephalad MSD.ii. Caudad MSD.h) The interpedicualr diameter of the bony spinal canal (IPD).c) The height of the vertebra (VH). |
