Abstract

LM is one of the main glycoproteins of the basement membrane .This molecule participates in a series of biological events such as the maintenance of the cytoskeleton , hepatocytes and sinusoidal cells are able to synthesis of LM. The aim of the work is to assess serum level of LM in patients with chronic hepatitis B&C.A comparative study will be done also with LM and five liver Fibrosis indices in Chronic Hepatitis B & C Patients. This study included 62 patients’ (36 males and 26 females), their ages ranged between 19-60 years, in addition to 20 apparently healthy subjects (12 males and 8 females), with age ranged between 19-41 years. The studied subjects were divided into 3groups, group 1 included 34 patients with mild liver fibrosis staged 1&2 according to Ishak liver fibrosis scoring system include(20 males and 14 females) their age ranged between 19-54 years and include 28 patients with HCV&6 patients with HBV. Group 2 included 28 patients with severe liver fibrosis staged 3,4,5& 6 they were (16 males and 12 females) with age ranged between 29-60 years and include 26 patient with HCV&6 patients with HBV, Group 3 represent control group staged 0 liver fibrosis Patients and control group were submitted thorough history taking, clinical examination, abdominal ultrasonography, liver function tests, and estimation of serum LM level. The results of this study revealed that : There was significantly high level of LM in patients with liver fibrosis compared to the control group. There was positive correlation between LM levels and liver fibrosis. There was significantly high level of LM in patients with severe liver fibrosis than mild liver fibrosis. There was significantly +ve correlation between LM and Age, AST, ALT, ALP. Among Patients with liver fibrosis. There was significantly -ve correlation between LM and platelet among Patients with liver fibrosis. There was significantly higher level of (APRI ,API, Fibro Q, FIB4) among Patients with liver fibrosis. LM level show high accuracy than other fibrosis marker (APRI ,FIB4 ,FibroQ, AAR, and AP) in predicting degree of liver fibrosis.
