Abstract INTRODUCTION Producing varieties with high yielding abilities has always been first and foremost among plant breeding objectives. High yielding varieties, however, share with all having things the susceptibility to environmental factors which may vary from one location to another, or from year to year. Today the plant breeder is not satisfied by mere high yielding ability. He also demands stability of high performance over a relatively wide range of environmental conditions. The present study is an attempt at evaluating stability of a number of wheat varieties as well as explaining the statistical procedures that can be of value in routine breeding programmes of wheat as well as other field crops |
