Abstract

In Egypt there is a severe competition between animal
and human for nutrition, attributed to the over population
and the shortage of the feedstuffs, this problem draws
attension to looking for an alternative which saves most, if
not all the maize for huTian consumption.
Nowadays, tapioca which is a shrubby plant, can be
cultivated in all soils, propagated from cuttings and can be
used as pellets, is found to be a good substitute for
feeding animals without any adverse effect.
In this study we ai~ed at proving this target, we did
two experiments at the Experimental Agriculture Station in
Kalubia by using tapioca pellets.
The first experiment:
Digestion trial for detection the nutritive value of tapioca.
The second experiment:
Feeding trial on a group of a lactating goats using
tapioca pellets as a substitute in a ratio of 50%, 75%
maize used as ration and its effect on their
production.
