Abstract

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is one of the most prevalent chronic developmental disorders, with high co morbidity with other disorders specially reading disorder. Executive function deficit has been hypothesized to be a core deficit in both disorders Aims: to detect EFs deficits in children with ADHD, RD, ADHD co morbid with RD, for better understanding and management of both conditions Fourty children with ADHD, 40 children with RD, 40 children with ADHD+RD, matched with 40 control of age range (6-13 years) and IQ 90 undergo semistructured interview, test for readingdisorder, and a group of EFs tests ( WCST, TOH, Stroop, TMT, digit span backward). children with ADHD either alone or co morbid with reading disorder were impaired relative to control in ( inhibition, set shifting working memory, devided attention) but the co morbid group had more impairment. Children with reading disorder were impaired relative to normal control in (set shifting, working memory , divided attention) but less than other clinical groups.
