Abstract In Egypt, fruit crops have a major importance due to high consumption of fresh and processing products as well as fruits can be exported in high value. The Mediterranean fruit fly (MFF), Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) and the peach fruit fly (PFF), Bactrocera zonata(Saunders) (Diptera: Tephritidae) are the most serious insects infesting fruit crops causing direct losses in the yield and marketability. Due to the large number of the two species hosts, monitor of population and consequently management are of great importance. Also, their control depends on insecticides especially malathion and malathion mixed with protein baits, which are associated with deleterious effects. |
