Abstract

Here, we will focus on the water pollution which is an important problem.
This work aims to study the photocatalytic degradation of 2-chlorophenol. It belongs to a notable group of pollutants because of its high toxicity, hard biodegradation and is difficult to be removed from the environment.
Firstly, Photocatalytic degradation of 2-chlorophenol using UV-Visible light was investigated over mesoporous catalysts. KIT-6 was successfully prepared by a simple method, TiO2/KIT-6 was prepared by wet impregnation method in three different wt% (2.35, 2.76 and 4.43 ) and doping of the photosynthesized dye over 2.35wt%TiO2/KIT-6 in different wt% (1.3, 1.5 and 2.54 ).
Secondly, the prepared catalysts were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-Vis absorbance and BET surface areas of the samples were determined using nitrogen adsorption - desorption isotherms.
All the catalysts showed reactivity towards the photocatalytic degradation reaction but with varying degrees.
