Abstract

Background Family planning is defined by who as away of thinking and living that is adopted voluntarily, upon the basis of knowledge, attitudes and responsible decisions by individuals and couples, in order to promote the health and well fare of family grouse and social development. Objective. Asses knowledge of female attending Bishla family planning clinic regarding family planning methods utilization• Asses their attitudes towards family planning. Method Descriptive cross sectional study conducted among 337 clients attending Bishla family planning clinic, Mitghamr, Dakhalia, to assess knowledge and attitudes of females, they were inter viewed after an consent and pre constructed question raises were filled, the data were statically analyzed by using program of EPI INFO 6. Results There was adequate knowledge of 81% of females; and favorable attitude (67.4%) emergency contraception knowledge. 1.8% of females know and 98.2% don’t know. Some respondents still not use contraception. Conclusion : Females have good knowledge .their knowledge from media more than doctors and nurse. Attitude favorable, but services not available to all females, social communications between doctors and females, need support from leaders of family planning centers. Some females still not use contraception. Key words:Family planning, knowledge, attitudes, emergency contraception, spacing between birth, contraceptive methods.
