Abstract Human milk is the best source of nutrition for infants. Breast milk contains the optimal balance of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins for developing babies, and it provides a range of benefits for growth, immunity, and development. Aim of the work and objectives: To determine the frequency of cow milk induced GIT troubles in the studied group, to find out the causes of cow milk administration in the studied infants and to measure the knowledge of the nursing mothers about the importance of breast feeding and the troubles of cow milk. Subjects and Methods: The present study is a descriptive study carried in in Kofor El-Bahayta village, Mit Ghamr District, Dakahlia Governorate by using questionnaire. Results: Signs of anemia were found among most of the infants of the two groups by hemoglobin analysis, but the hemoglobin concentration range was slightly higher in group 2.Conclusion : The optimal food in infancy is human breast milk and CMPA is not related to the amount or period of cow milk consumption while GIT troubles and anemia are related to the continuity of cow milk feeding. Recommendations: Health education of pregnant females on breast feeding should start as early as possible from the first hour after birth and Cow milk should not be used in infant feeding before the first year of life. |
