Abstract

The present investigation was carried out during the two successive seasons of 2011and 2012 in the Tropical Farm at Kom Ombo under directorate of Botanical Garden Aswan (belonging Hort. Res. Instit., Agric. Res. Centre., Giza) on Kapok (Ceiba pentandra, L.) tree seedlings. This investigation included two separate experiments, first experiment, Concerned the influence of soil types sand, clay, sand + clay (3:1v/v) and sand + clay (4:1 v/v). as the main factor and seven mineral N and biofertilization treatments [control (100% of the recommended dose of mineral NPK fertilization), Minia Azotene + 25%N + 100% PK, Minia Azotene + 50 % N + 100% PK, Minia Azotene + 75%N + 100% PK, E.M+ 25% N + 100% PK, E.M + 50% N + 100% PK and E.M + 75% N +100% PK], as the sub-unit factor, on different vegetative growth characters and some chemical constituents of Ceiba pentandra seedlings. The experiment was arranged in a split–plot design. It could be recommended to grow Kapok (Ceiba pentandra) tree seedlings in clay or sandy + clay soil at 3:1 (v/v), and supplying them with mineral N at 75 % (of the recommended dose) [7.33 g /5kg/ soil of ammonium sulphate (20.6 % N)] and the amounts of P and K were added at a constant dose, namely, 4.5 and 3.0 g /5kg/ soil of calcium superphosphate (15.5% P2O5) and potassium sulphate (48% K2O), respectively divided into three addition plus E.M (biofertilizer) at the volume of 50 ml/ bag in two times in order to obtain the best vegetative growth characters and to improve nutritional status of the seedlings.
Second experiment: concerned the effect of five natural biostimulnts, salicylic acids, ascorbic acid, citric acid, vitamin E (α – tocopherol ) and amino acids (tryptophan, methionine and cysteine) each at concentrations(100 and 200 ppm) and active dry yeast at 2.5 and 5 g/l on different vegetative growth characters and some chemical constituents of Ceiba pentandra seedlings. The layout of the experiment was randomizing complete block design. For producing healthy Ceiba pentandra tree seedlings, it is advised to spraying the seedling with active dry yeast three times at 5g/l.
