The results of the study revealed the following:
More than one third of nurses (34.57%) has age ranged between (20-25) years old half of the study sample was married (53.99%) as regard qualification more than three fifth of the study sample had nursing school diploma (60.37%) regarding years of experience (23.67%) of the study subjects has more than 5 years of experience in nursing.
The highest type of absenteeism among nurse in the ministry of health hospitals was the unexcused or leaves without permission. In their opinion was the external factors were the most contributing factor lead to absenteeism.
- Divorced nurses had the highest mean total score of factors contributing to absenteeism (134.39 ± 20.26).
- Nurses working in surgical units had the highest mean score in relation to total factors leading to absenteeism Nurses working in medical units had the highest mean score in relation to the respect and appreciation.
- There was statistically significant relation between total factors contributing to the absenteeism and marital status. Highly statistically significant relation between factors contributing to absenteeism and nurses qualification in all items except job climate and work relation.
. More than two thirds of study sample had low motivation level while one quarter of them was moderately motivated
Staff nurses in the medical units tend to be more motivated than nurses working in other units.
- There was no statistically significant relation between component of work motivation and nurses qualifications except in responsibility for action and achievement.
- Regarding to work motivation component and years of experience, the highest mean score was among nurses who had more than 10 years experience.
Diploma nurses with specialty are more motivated than baccalaureate nurses.
The present study shows that the highest total mean score of absenteeism facture was in Kolubia while the Lowest mean score in Cairo the majority of nurses in the ministry of health hospital un motivated.
There is a significantly negative correlation between factors contributing to absenteeism and motivation.
- Based on the result the study recommended that:
- Update the organizational policies as possible and put into consideration the organization workforce as an important source of organization and its existence. Develop leadership skills for staff nurse by adding responsibilities and delegation of authority.
- Periodic meeting between hospital managers and staff nurses to discuss work problems and develop solution for each problem.
- The nurse managers should provide adequate resources to facilitate care providing.
- Developing an attendance policy to reduce absenteeism rate is a must, since the rules of contributing absenteeism turned to be great important from nurses ,viewpoint
