المستخلص

The Study aimed at identifying the role of social networks in developing the political conscience of Assuit University Students, using the field study, through a questionnaire applied on a sample of Assuit University Students 2013/2014. They were about 492 female/male students. The Study consisted of an introduction, five chapters, and a conclusion, followed by a number of sources. The researcher has achieved many results, among which are the following:
1. 98,6% of the sample use Social networks while 1,4% don’t use it at all.
2. The main motives behind using social networks were different as there are 50% of the sample found that they offer a free and bold tool for conveying their ideas, followed by 43,9% of the sample used these networks for enjoyment, pleasure and spending their spare time, While 39,8% considered them a tool that provides knowledge about the universal and local events.
3. The results of the study revealed that Facebook is the most used among all the other forms of social networks in as 61% followed by YouTube 26,6% then Twitter 6%.
4. Social networks caused a change in the political information of the sample in as much as 74,6%. The degree of participation were 67,2% of the sample in the elections after using the social networks, while it was 43,5% before.
5. Social networks were able to a great extent to develop in as much as 38,1% of the political conscience of the used sample, while about 37,7% of the sample supported to some extent the point of the ability of it to increase their political conscience, At the same time about 15,5% were able strongly to develop their political conscience after using social networks.
