Abstract A total 396 samples (liver, heart and cecal content) from chickens were collected from Port Said region. All samples were subjected to bacteriological examination. Salmonella were recovered (121) from total samples (396) by (31%). 25 samples out from 33 heart samples were subjected to API 20E system for confirm identification. Serotyping of the Salmonella isolates revealed Salmonella enteritidis, Salmonella kentuckey, Salmonella bloemfontein and Salmonella archavalenta. Using polymerase chain reaction technique and SYBR Green real-time PCR for detection of Salmonella invA gene that present only in Salmonella species as a rapid and more sensitive technique. The result of studying in vitro the sensitivity of the four Salmonella strains to 13 antimicrobial agents revealed that Salmonella isolates sensitive to choloramphenicol, gentamycin, ofloxacin variable to ampicillin, enrofloxacin, naldixic acid, sulfa/trimethoprim and resistant erythromycin and lincomycin. |
