Abstract In the presented thesis, four methods were developed for the analysis of some non – sedating antihistamines (NSAs) namely; cetirizine (CTZ), ebastine (EBS), fexofenadine (FXD), ketotifen (KET) and loratadine (LOR). ü A simple, sensitive and non-extractive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of CTZ, EBS, FXD, KET and LOR based on ion-pair complex formation with erythrosine B. ü A validated simple, rapid, and selective spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of CTZ, EBS, FXD, KET and LOR. The method is based on quenching effect of the cited drugs on the fluorescence intensity of erythrosine B (EB) and measurement of ΔF. ü A validated simple, rapid, and selective spectrofluorimetric method for the determination of some NSAs namely; CTZ, EBS, FXD, and LOR. The method is based on measuring the native fluorescence of the cited drugs after protonation in acid media and studying their quantitative fluorescence intensity – structure relationships. Several quantitative relationship were found between the relative fluorescence intensities of the protonated drugs and their physicochemical parameters namely; the pKa, log P, connectivity indexes (χv) and their squares. Seventy six regression equations were obtained and not previously reported. Six of these equations were highly significant and used for the prediction of RFI of the studied drugs . |
