Abstract

A field experiments was conducted through 2010/2011 and
2011/2012 at a private farm, in Tokh Qaliubiya governorate, Egypt
in clay soil texture, to determining the effect soil incorporation of
rice straw and cotton residues alone or with mineral nitrogen or
nitrogen fixer bacteria (Azotobacter, Azospirillium lipoforium and
Bacillus polymyxa ) on growth yield and nutrients content of pea
(Pisum Sativum L.) cultivar (master-B) and residual effect of
residues on growth yield and nutrient content of okra crop
(Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) cultivar (Dokki,cross1) as
well as some soil chemical and nutrients content after harvesting of
main and followed crops, compared with recommended dose of
mineral fertilizers (N, P, K), Data showed that the treatment of
recommended dose of chemical fertilizer produced the highest
significant values of pod fresh weight g/ pea plant, pod weight
(Kg)/fed., seed fresh weight (g)/ plant , seed yield (Kg)/fed., 100
seed weight (g), straw weight (g)/plant , straw yield (Kg)/fed, macro
and micronutrients content of pea seed , straw and content of soil
after harvest crop. While, the lowest ones were recorded by rice
straw or cotton stalk incorporated alone as well as with N fixer or N
mineral. Incorporation of rice straw may be responsible for rising
EC, the highest value of Ec was achieved in 2ton rice straw/fed+
Nitrogen fixer bacteria, on the contrary the value of pH was reduced
in most cases of treatment of residues. On the other hand, the effect
of incorporation of raw material (rice straw or cotton stalk) showed
a positive effect on okra plant, macro and micro content in okra
pod, straw and content of soil (macro and micro nutrients). The
residual effect of chemical fertilizer and rice straw as raw materials
alone and with ammonium nitrate or nitrogen fixer bacteria
increased significantly EC of soil after okra plant. Meanwhile, the
lowest one was recorded when adding cotton stalk as raw materials
alone and with Ammonium nitrate (AN) or Nitrogen fixer bacteria
(NFB) for okra plant. In most cases, pH increased significantly by
using the all treatments under study as a residual effect compared to
the treatment of 1 ton rice straw (RS) alone. The treatment of 2 ton
cotton stalk/fed+ Nitrogen fixer bacteria led to increase the value of
organic matter and C/N ratio after harvesting crop.
