Abstract The present work is assigned to study the corrosion behavior of carbon steel in 1 M HCl solution and the inhibiting effect of some 4,6 dimethyl pyrimidine derivatives. The obtained results showed that the inhibition efficiency of these compounds increased by increasing their concentrations and decreases by increasing the temperature, so that the adsorption of these compounds on carbon steel surface is physical and the adsorption of the organic compounds on carbon steel surface in 1 M HCl follows langmuir adsorption isotherm. Some thermodynamic parameters are computed and discussed. Weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization technique was used as a second method to study the inhibiting effect of the investigated compound. Also, impedance spectroscopy measurements, electrochemical frequency modulation measurements and surface examination were done. The obtained results from different techniques were in good agreements. |
