Abstract In developing countries, including Egypt, shortage of animal proteins is a problem of great importance. Fish is considered a high protein source and fish production should be taken into consideration as an easy and cheap method for reducing the shortage in animal protein. Use of steroid hormones like 17 a - Methyltestosterone for the production of all-male population is widespread in Bolti fish (01.eochronlis niloticus) aquaculture. It was well-established and gradually increased in fish grow out farms in Egypt and mainly at Sharkia, Behera, Ismailia, Domuta and Kafr El-Sheikh governorates. Samples under investigation of common and male formatted (mono-sex) Bolti fish were obtained from a private farm at Damro El-Haddadi village, Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, Egypt. |
