Abstract

Incivility in the class rooms has increased and is pervaded higher and professional education. Academic environmental, student, faculty members, institutional and societal factors are contributing to student incivility in the educational environment. Incivility can lead to a weakened learning environment, poor workforce behaviors, and violence. It is imperative that faculty members take actions to nurture civility in nursing education such as building respectful and trusting relationships between faculty members and students, approving professional role modeling, implementation of cooperative learning strategies, providing open forums for candid dialogue between faculty members and students, adopting and enforcing zerotolerance policies, and providing faculty members with the education and
support that they need to handle incivility. The present research aimed to study civility among nursing students at Tanta University. The study was conducted at Faculty of Nursing, Tanta University. Subjects consisted of 560 nursing students from first, second,third, and fourth academic years. They were a representative random sample of 35% of each year with no age limited and they were regular students.
