Abstract Location, Surface Geology, and Bathymetry of the Study area, The study area lies on the western side of the Gulf of Suez. It is located between latitudes E. It lies nearby the junction of the Gulf of Suez and Red Sea This area has special interest from the structural and economic points of view. The outcropping igneous rocks in some parts are of Pre-Cambrian age these rocks are exposed in Gebel El-geit, Esh El-Mallaha and Shadwan Islands, while the reefal and alluvial terraces, which cover the major part of the coastal plain and islands, are of Pliocene to Recent age The Miocene formation overlying Pre-Miocene rocks (Eocene, Paleocene, Upper Cretaceous and Pre-Cretaceous Nubian sandstone) are recorded in some parts around the basement high ridge of Eesh El-Mallaha In Shadwan Island. |
