Abstract The term ”pollution” as defined in common law has its widest and broadest significance, but it oertainly has a somewhat narrower meaning in the various status dealing with pollution from the scientific stand point, it is perhaps easier to regard pollution as the aotual impurity introduced into the stream rather than the act of introducing such impurity.Since pollution markedly affects the flora and fauna of the stream and can alter the individuals as well as the number of species (Yapp, 1959), it can also be defined in relation to its effects on plant and animal life in the river It is of interest to note that in the State of California,U.S.A.
