Abstract
studying the properties of carbohydrate-containing polyamides, polyhydrazides and poly(1,3,4-oxadiazoles). It was rational, therefore, to have the introductory chapter of the thesis (chapter 1) devoted to review the chemistry of polyamides, polyhydrazides, and poly(1,3,4-oxadiazoles). The candidate discusses his own work in chapter 2 which comprises the synthesis of the aforementioned types of polymers Carbohydrate-containing polyamides were prepared using low-temperature solution polycondensation of 2,3,4,S-tetra-Q-acetyl galactaroyl dichloride with a variety of aromatic and aliphatic diamines namely : £-phenylene.
