Abstract

Of all the rivers in the world the Nile River interests the greatest beer of people. It plays an important role in the life of Egyptians and Sudanese, without the Nile their countries would be a desert, It is however the most conspicuous feature of northeast Africa, The Nile is Interesting to geographers because of its long course and the fact that, Lt flows from South to North crossing countries having different climates, Parts of the Nile basin are still very Little known and even untraversed, For historians and archaeologists there is a record in Egypt, stretching back years to the very beginnings of civilization, To engineers and scientists the hydrological studies which have been made on the Nile are of theoretical and practical interest, and are the basis of the great scheme of projects which has been drawn up for the full utilization of the Nile waters for irrigation. Recently, a broad outline of the Nile basin and its geological evolution was reported by Said According to Said, The Nile River extends Corm the Lakes plateau at the Equator to the Med! terranean Sea within one degree on the same meridian of longitude and crosses degrees of Latitude. The Nile has a length of from the sources of the Unirons River in Tanzania to the shores of the Hediter ranean Along Lets course, Lt follows generally a south north path.
