Abstract his thesis comprises three chapters, the first of which deals with a general review on the structure and reactivity of different types of organotin(IV) chelates. This is followed by the aim of investigation, in which the statement of the problem is included. The second chapter includes the results and discussion and comprises five parts:- 1) The first part deals with the coordination properties of hydrazine-S-methylcarbodithioate Schiff base derived from pyridine-2-aldehyde (37). A series of inorganictin(IV) and organotin(IV) chelates were synthesized and their structure elucidated. These chelates are categorized into four types:- a) The [Sn(pyhydth)C1,] chelate, where (pyhydth) refers to the mononegative anion (40), was isolated from the reaction of Hpyhydth (37) with SnCl4 and characterized. A dimeric octahedral structure (49) was assigned to this chelate, with the ligand acting as mononegative tridentate ligand coordinated to the tin atom via the pyridine nitrogen, the azomethine nitrogen and the thiol sulphur. This was confirmed using IR, Hnmr and F.D mass spectra. b) Monoalkyltin(IV) chelates of the general formula [Ran(pyhydth)Cl2] (R-CH,, -C4B), resulting from the direct. |
