Abstract

Myocardial ischemia reperfusion is one of the leading causes of mortality especially during cardiac surgery. Injury of myocardium due to myocardial IR leads to cardiac dysfunction, arrhythmias, infarction, and sudden death. Obesity is associated with a substantial increase in the risk of mortality from chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease
The present work aimed mainly to:
Investigate whether obesity increases myocardial susceptibility to IR or not especially during cardiac surgery.
2. Evaluate the effects of some anticoagulants (r-hirudin, rivaroxaban) as prophylactic agents against the harmful changes accompanied with myocardial IR.
3. Identify the possible correlation between the tested biochemical parameters.
4. Examine the interrelation between biochemical and histological changes that follow myocardial IR.
To fulfill such objectives, the following parameters were selected to be studied:
1- Biochemical parameters:
• Serum lipid profile (TC, TAG, HDL-c, LDL-c and atherogenic index).
• Serum CK-MB activity.
• Myocardial Ang. II, TNF- α, IL- contents.
Myocardial MCP-1 gene expression.
Non biochemical parameters:
Body weight - Heart rate - ECG.
Histological examination of heart tissue.
