Abstract

This research was held on two hundred one day old ducklings, divided into 4 equal groups (50 ducklings in each). Two groups were left non infected and other two groups were infected with E. coli at the 21th day of age:
Group1: non infected ducklings and non treated.
Group2: non infected ducklings and received 10 mg/kg b.wt of doxycycline in drinking water for 5 successive days.
Group3: infected ducklings and non treated.
Group4: infected ducklings and treated with 10 mg/kg b.wt of doxycycline in drinking water for 5 successive days.
At 1st, 7th and 15thday post drug administration. Five ducklings from each group were sacrificed for collection of two blood samples,
1st sample was collected in tube contain EDTA for hematological study. 2nd sample was collected in centrifuge tube for obtain clear serum for biochemical study.
Post sacrificed ducklings, samples from liver, kidney; heart and lung were collected for histopathological study.
At 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th day post administration three ducklings from the second group were sacrificed and samples from liver, kidney and breast muscle were taken for detection doxycycline residues using HPLC.
