Abstract Chronic renal disease especially chronic Renal Failure is one of the medical problems that substantially reduce the quality of life of children. The aim of the present study was to assess the quality of life of school- age children with chronic renal failure. A descriptive design was used in this study. The sample constituted of 90children at school- age with chronic renal failure at hemodialysis unites at Mansoura University Children Hospital. Two tools were used to collect the necessary data. Tool (I) An interview questionnaire sheet developed by researcher including personal data of children and their parents as well as medical history. Tool (II) ”The pediatric quality of life inventory TM version 4.0 adopted from varni et al 1998”. The findings of the present study revealed that the quality of life of school - age children with chronic renal failure was affected. There was a significant association between the total quality of life and both residence and family income according to child report. Based on the result, it could be concluded that chronic renal failure has a negative impact on perceived physical, emotional, social, & school function in chronic renal failure children. ’The study recommended that an educational programme should be conducted to improve quality of life for patient with chronic renal failure. |
