Abstract Measuring Quality consists of quantifying the current level of performance according to expected standards. It leads directly to the identification of areas for improvement or enhancement, the first step in improving the quality of care. This study aims to measure the quality of nursing care in El-Ahrar Zagazig General Hospital. Descriptive design was conducted. Two groups of subjects were participated in the study, nursing and patients group. The first group consists of 42 administrative nursing personnel and the second group consists of 100 patients from all hospital’s departments. Three tools were used to collect data. The first was nurse’s questionnaire sheet to assess the fulfillment of structural standards. The second tool was patient care check list to determine quality of care rendered to the patient. The third tool was patient satisfaction questionnaire. The results of present study revealed that nurse managers had adequate knowledge about structure standards of the hospital, the observed quality of care rendered to patients as process standard revealed adequate knowledge regarding meeting emotional needs and rest & sleep (99%), (98%) consequently, lowest adequate score related to personnel hygiene (36.6%) and discharged (52%). statistical significance relation between nurses’ years of experience and their knowledge about structure standards. Also no statistical significance relation between patients’ mean of age, their length of stay and the adequate outcome standards. The study ecommended that: Continuous education program for nurses about quality of patient care, nursing policies and procedures manuals must be available and activates its use, and patient view point should be considered. |
