Abstract The present study evaluate the effect of sildenafil citrate (SC) on threatened miscarriage in F-URSM the most important results of the present study are summarized and discussed as flows: 1. Oxidative stress biomarker malondialdehyde (MDA) was significantly decreased in F-URSM groups that went successfully to term after treatment with intravaginal SC with different doses as compared to control group. 2. A highly significant decrease in nitric oxide (NO) levels in response to intravaginal SC in different dose. 3. Serum and hemolysate superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities in both treated F-URSM groups after treatment with different doses of SC were significantly increased as compared to the day before treatment (zero day). 4. A highly significant increment in catalase (CAT) in both plasma and erythrocyte in F-URSM groups after treatment with different doses with SC as compared to control group. 5. Intravaginal SC with different doses reactivate and restore the antioxidant defense mechanism mainly erythrocyte glutathione-S- transferase (GST), and plasma total antioxidant capacity (TAC). 6. IL-6 levels are significantly diminished in both F-URSM groups before treatment as compared to control group. 7. IL-10 showed a highly significant decrease in IL-10 levels in both F-URSM groups at zero day as compared to control group. 8. Percentage of TNF-α producing cells of untreated F-URSM groups (zero day) were found to be statistically significantly increased as compared to the normal control group. 9. The percentages of CD16+ and/or CD56+ NK cells were significantly decreased after intravaginal SC. 10. SC rapidly reduces mean arterial pressure and simultaneously increases blood flow to uterus by significant decrease in PI, RI and S/D ratio. |
