Abstract Industry is a huge source of water pollution, Organic materials are the most abundant source of pollutants. The traditional methods used are expensive due to its high consumption of energy and large space so the replacement of these methods with high efficient and more economic are needed. Electro-chemical oxidation is one of removal of organic wastes such as ethanol. In this study using electrode catalyst made from nanomaterial (graphene doped with Ni, Co and Fe) for ethanol removal. Graphene was prepared by modified hummer method. The optimum catalyst obtained was 60% nano Ni/graphene. Kinetic studies of electro-oxidation of ethanol follows the first order reaction with K=0.013s-1. Diffusion control reaction was found from the value of activation energy (20.59 kJ/mol). Mathematical correlation fit the following equation: Sh=27.5Re0.254 Sc0.33. Reactor design for continuous stirred reactor shows that volume of reaction is about 30 m3 for flow rate of 0.1 m3/s. |
