Abstract

This study was conducted on twenty three patients came to our bronchoscopy unit at Ain Shams University hospital for interventional diagnostic or therapeutic bronchoscopy including 19 males & 4 females.
After the bronchoscopic procedure chest ultrasound and chest x-ray were done to every patient to examine the concordance between both of them.
Only one case developed pneumothorax as a complication from the intervention (4.3%) which was detected by the CXR as well as the ultrasound.
During our study we observed that the pleural effusion was detected better by the ultrasound than the routine CXR:
Ultrasound : 100%
CXR : 66.6%
Lung collapse was seen by the CXR as well as the ultrasound.
Ultrasound : 100%
CXR : 100%
Also during the study the lung mass was detected better by the CXR than the ultrasound. Ultrasound : 10%
CXR : 80%
