Abstract

The present investigation was carried out on 140 specimens, 55 complete female genitalia (five of them for heifers and 50 adult non pregnant, freshly and apparently healthy slaughtered buffaloes) for morphological, morphometrical and scanning electron microscope (SEM) studies. Eighty five apparently healthy adult female buffaloes of 3-7 years were used for ultrasonographical studies.
The Gross morphological study revealed that, the uterus of buffalo consisted of two uterine horns, body and cervix. Uterine horns of the buffalo were 39-45 cm long and gradually taper from uterine body to their junction with uterine tube. At the point of divergence of the uterine horns, they connected by dorsal and ventral Intercornual ligament, between which was a shallow recess opened cranially. Internally the two uterine horns separated by an intercornual septum.
Endometrium of uterine horns was thrown by longitudinal and transverse folds. There were 80-120 uterine caruncles distributed over the internal surface of uterine horns and body in four irregular rows. The stereomicroscopic microscopic study showed that.
