Abstract

The study of the geometry of null hypersurfaces and in particular light cones in a space-time of general relativity is complicated by the existence of caustics, i.e. points of intersection of the generating null geodesics. A well known method for understanding the geometry of the light cone is performing its metric from the metric of the space time to interpret its geometrical properties.
In this work we study the geometry of the null hypersurfaces in general relativity. A detailed study of the geometry of the light cone in a special space time (anti Mach space time [33]) is given.
At the end of this work we are dealing with the basics concepts of Riemann extension concepts applied to the anti Mach space time. Complete solution of the geodesic equations in anti-Mach extended space are given.
The results obtained in this thesis are accepted for publication [3], [4].
