Abstract Thirty-five THAs were performed in 31 patients with OA of the hip secondary to hip dysplasia. There were 12 males (38.7%) and 19 females (61.3%). Seventeen patients (54.8%) had right dysplastic hip, 10 (32.3%) had left dysplastic hip, and 4 (12.9%) had bilateral affection. The mean age of the patients at the time of surgery was 42 years (range, 19-69 years). The mean body weight was 74 kg (range, 63-85) and the mean height was 171 cm (range, 159-180 cm). The mean body mass index (BMI) was 26 kg/m2 (range, 21-32 kg/m2). The mean follow-up was 48 months (range, 24-84 months). Preoperative HHS averaged 57 ± 10 points (range, 41-74 points). The latest follow-up HHS averaged 86 ± 6 points (range, 74-94 points). There was a significant improvement (p-value <0.05) in the HHS. At the latest follow-up evaluation, rating was excellent in 19 hips (54.3%), good in 10 hips (28.6%), and fair in 6 hips (17.1%) with no poor results. |
